BUDGIES
Budgies are very easy to keep and are readily available. They are very good talkers if you have the time and the patience to repeat words or phrases to them very often.

LOVEBIRDS
Lovebirds are freely available. If you want a shoulder bird, you should either get a handreared one or a very young one. Although they are not good talkers, their antics and lovely nature makes up for it.

COCKATIELS
Cockatiels are very under-rated as pet birds. One do however have to get them handreared or very young. If too much time goes by without a lot of attention, they do incline to shy away from you or even give you a serious peck or two ...They are very good whistlers and some are also very good talkers. They can also be quite funny ...

SENEGAL PARROTS
One of the sweetest pet birds available at a reasonable price. Not excellent talkers, but what they lack in talking, they make up in being very lovable, cudly, playful and funny. They are also very intelligent and with a little patience can learn all kinds of tricks.

QUAKER PARROTS
Very good talkers. Clever and very funny. Can be taught a lot of tricks. Some of them can be a bit noisy.

AFRICAN GREY PARROTS
Excellent talkers. They are the best speach imitators. Very loyal, although sometimes only to one person. Very intelligent. Live as long as human beings. They are quite sensitive birds and can be stressed by their environment or people who they don't like.

COCKATOO
Very funny birds. They don't normally have a large vocabulary. Very lovable, but also very demanding. They need lots of attention and if they don't get it, can throw tantrums and become very unpleasant.
